EA Plans sequels for Dead Space, Army of Two, BattleField: Bad Company and Mirror’s Edge

EA Plans sequels for Dead Space, Army of Two, BattleField: Bad Company and Mirror’s Edge

It seems EA are really into their new franchises, as they have quite a few sequels in the making and have given hints about which direction they’re going in. Focusing back on the topic here, at least one of the games mentioned should have grabbed your attention, and now that they’ve come and gone, EA has been talking about what’s to come for these four titles. All four of these titles were special games, and two of them, namely Mirror’s Edge and Army of Two, even brought something unique and new to the table altogether.
It’s now time to see just exactly what’s in store for these games from EA.

Dead Space

With Dead Space being a huge hit back in 2008, EA have been really excited regarding their plans for its future. Now, it comes as great news to us that the second game in the trilogy, Dead Space 2 has already been confirmed to be in the making – alongside the Nintendo Wii adaption Dead Space Extraction. What was also hinted at, was the making of a Dead Space movie that apparently will fill in the gaps of the story between Dead Space 1 and 2. It really seems like EA plan to make this series large, and that’s fantastic news as the first game was really great.
I can’t tell you more as there is no further news, but at least we know that there is a positive and possibly bright future ahead for the Dead Space series.

Army of Two

Army of Two stands today as one of 2008′s best selling titles for the Xbox360, and this naturally excludes the PS3 version. EA have stated that they definitely have a sequel planned and right now they’re gathering ideas for their action packed Co-operative title. It was inevitable upon hearing this for the public to start coming up with some lame jokes regarding the possible name of the game, such as “Army of Two The Second” or “Army of Two – Squared” but the current name that seems to have stuck is Army of Two 2.
Sorry, lost my train of thought there.
Anyway, it’s still very early in 2009 and getting information further than a confirmation is not possible at this point in time.

Battlefield: Bad Company

Battlefield: Bad Company was quite a debatable title when it was released. Some saw it as a very impressive title while others saw it as a step down from its predecessors. Gone were the massive online battles supporting up to 64 players; rather instead scaled down to 24 players. It seemed to many that the game had shifted its focus onto single player rather than multiplayer – what it initially was made for. However, the game never neglected multiplayer and it was still a very good game, but you still can’t fight the public’s word can you?
However EA isn’t done with Bad Company just yet and have given a confirmation for its sequel. It depends on what you thought of the first game that will determine whether this is great news to you or not, but ultimately, all we can do at this point is wait and see how it comes along.

Mirror’s Edge

Mirror’s Edge was definitely one of the more innovative titles to be released last year. It brought an entirely new playstyle and idea to the first person genre and while it was a good game that had some equally good ideas, it wasn’t very popular with the consumers and gamers. However, EA still has plans for the game as they’ve revealed it to be a trilogy. Hopefully, they’ll pay attention to the complaints (as well as praise) regarding the game and do well to make the necessary improvements and changes. The only small hint that was given regarding the sequel was that the developers were moving forward with it and looking at issues with the overall design of the game to see what they can make better and change where appropriate. That’s all there is at this point, and the only question is whether you have high hopes for the sequel or not.

Last Words
We can all see that EA definitely have some strong ideas for their new franchises. All four of these games have very large potential, but only time can tell whether the future of these titles will aspire to greatness or sadly, be lost in the darkness.
