MSSA announce the final details for their league

The *favourite* gaming association in SA, the MSSA, have announced that their leagues are finally underway. We are sad to announce that this years tournament will only have half the amount of games from the 2008 tournament.

Mind Sports South Africa have announced that there are 134 players registered for 2009, which means that the list has dropped by 94 players. These figures were meant to be announced on Sunday, but we’re thinking that the reason for the delay was because the MSSA couldn’t find a working mouse to double click on their players list.

MSSA seem to be losing players left, right and centre, things are not looking good for this association, and it is almost safe to say that with their power in the National Team Trails, etc, they could kill gaming in South Africa.

The MSSA have revealed that there will only be six games played online, and if we’re lucky, the other games might be available at LAN tournaments.

MSSA Regulations require a minimum of four teams in each team game, and eight individual players in each single player game for an online league to take place.

The 2009 MSSA season will consist of the following games:

  • Counter Strike 1.6 (PC)
  • DotA- Allstars (PC)
  • Quake 3 (PC)
  • Call of Duty 4 (PC)
  • Starcraft (PC)
  • TrackMania Nations Forever (PC)

MSSA’s DotA league will feature nine teams, while the CoD4 league will have seven teams, expect five teams in CS 1.6 and 12 players in the Quake 3 league.

You will find eight players in the Starcraft league and eight players in the TrackMania Nations Forever league.

In 2008 the MSSA’s online league had 13 DotA teams, 20 CoD4 teams and one CS 1.6 team.

Teams for the DotA league:

  • Bravado
  • kknP
  • Team Xploit
  • SynCidy

You will notice that Pantheon Gaming, miNt, tankh, Entropy, UBS, 6or9, BFB, along with a few other teams, are not taking part in the league. Major influences for not taking part in the league: the price of the event, along with a flight to Cape Town for a medal and a pat on the back.

Some teams have decided that they will never take part in MSSA leagues, and this is bad news for the league as they are losing top teams.

Can we once again really say that the MSSA has done their best?
Can we really say that the team that wins will be the best?

We really think that the MSSA should change their attitude and actually let people that understand gaming have some say in the matter.

Let us know what you think the comment section below.

The thing that most people don’t understand is that MSSA is not some corporate profiting organization like AGASA. MSSA is an entity that is given by the ministry of sport to the community to run themselves. Anyone can run for MSSA president (or any other position for that matter). All you need is to be a registered MSSA member and win the majority vote (by other mssa members). So if everyone just registered to become a member and people ran for positions, there would be no problem.

Thing is people are too lazy to register, or they think R60 is gona make them a poor man. (just so u know, that money is used to run leagues again. Nobody makes a profit or salary out of MSSA).

  • Fuck JackDaniels

    Hey Jack,

Yeah, AGASA is a “profiting organisation” all right, that’s why their leagues are FREEEEEE, can you say it? FREE, not even R60. And at the end of the day, it’s not R60, that’s what you would like us to believe! It’s registrations fees for the year, plus each competition you enter you must pay. AGASA IS FREE … so they must be making a HUGH profit!

Secondly, NO, I doubt ANYONE could take the presidency from Colin, he has all the MSSA admin staff and anyone who has a vote wrapped around his finger, even if someone else joined and ran for presidency, there’s no chance in HELL they would win it! AGASA tried to become more involved with this destructive organisation, but the politics and organisation is worse than government.

The BEST YEAR that the MSSA ever had, was when AGASA ran the leagues in 2007, the MSSA had the highest league entries ever! Last year the MSSA desided they didn’t need AGASA anymore, they could do things better themselves and they FUCKED UP royally!!! I’m looking forward to another diminishing attendance next year.

AGASA has almost double the number of players in their COD4 tournament alone than the entire MSSA leagues combined! Catch a wake up MSSA!

You don’t force players to catch a plane to Cape Town to play in your National Championships the weekend before rAge! YOU JUST DON’T DO IT! You build your reputation stronger than rAge FIRST!
