AGASA Weekend Cup VI – Feelings and Thoughts from the Top 3

AGASA Weekend Cup VI – Feelings and Thoughts from the Top 3

The AGASA Weekend Cup VI for March was a huge success, and we have decided to chat to the top 3 teams and find out what they enjoyed most about the tournament.

AGASA’s Weekend Cup for March was won, for the second time in a row by Bravado Gaming. miNt Gaming took second place, while tankh came third.

Let us start off with tankh, where we had a couple of words with scant.

According to scant, tankh really enjoyed the tournament and they liked the fact that it was much larger than the last one. Although tankh came 3rd, which is a very good position in a tournament; they feel as if they were last. Scant said that tankh does not play to surpass other teams, they play to surpass themselves.

Tankh are a very good team, but they lack a couple of things. For one, they do not have a consistent roster; this makes it extremely difficult for good team work, and consistent play. Tankh usually resorts to using a substitute player for some of their games, and this does not really benefit their growth as a team at all.

Scant said that tankh would love to beat teams such as Bravado and miNt, but their inconsistency with the team is currently holding them back.

We asked scant how he felt about the overall tournament, and he said that Tankh are always keen to learn, and learning is one of their main aims when going into a tournament like this. He later commented saying that the team feels unhappy about not being able to play Bvd again this tournament, and that the team also hated the fact that a few opponents did not pitch for games.

Overall it seems like tankh are in a bit of a tough spot concerning players, but they still did exceptionally well. We are hoping that after they work on a stable line up, the usual miNt vs bvd final might not happen again.

We then decided to get a couple of words from the guys in second place, miNt gaming. We spoke to sLoJ who said that miNt felt that the Cup was a success as it was not dragged out, similar to previous competitions.

sLoJ commented on the group stages saying that a few teams found it to be a bit too much, which left those teams with one option, to forfeit. The poor commitment from various teams annoyed miNt as they wasted around 5 hours waiting to hear the final decision from these teams.

Although miNt placed very in the well Weekend Cup for March, they said that they saw a 2nd place finish coming, as they have not practiced as a team since the holidays which were the December/January months. miNt also commented by saying that the commitment from the holidays allowed them to win the January Cup.

We then asked what miNt have planned for the next Cup, they replied by saying that they have a new 6th player, Mouth, who will hopefully allow them to change their game play, as well as allow them to become a bit more consistent, something which tankh are also hoping for.

sLoJ commented on the finals by saying that they tried something new, but this was no excuse for losing as the felt that bvd were on form, and that Bravado are really playing very well at the moment.

miNt would like to wish everyone good luck for the next Cup.

Finally we got around to bvd, where we spoke to SixiS.

According to SixiS, Bravado felt that the tournament was really cool, despite the round robin feeling a bit rushed, as most teams ended up playing on Saturday. Most teams commented on the round robin stages of the tournament, as they all felt that the commitment from the teams were not ‘there.’

SixiS said that the problem with the Round Robin part of the Cup was not the organizers fault, but the players as they were meant to organize that part of the tournament, which was difficult as many teams could only play on the weekend, as it is a Weekend Cup.

SixiS said that Bravado is obviously happy where they placed, which is 1st.

According to SixiS, Bravado adopted a new aggressive game style which seems to have paid off. They said that for the next Cup they would like to be even more aggressive, where they would like more – and I quote – “ks-int-ish” play.

Bravado won the final game against miNt in 41 minutes.

Overall it seems like most of the teams felt that the tournament was a great success, and although there were a few problems, it will only get better – as every tournament has a few hiccups.

We’d like to thank all of the teams for competing, and it doesn’t matter if you came first or last, at least you tried.

Thanks to AGASA for another great Weekend Cup, and lets us see what happens in April, where Bravado will be seeded first, once again.
