BioWare says that Mass Effect 2 is not a Microsoft exclusive

BioWare’s Matt Atwood stated, in an interview with Joystiq, that Electronic Arts (EA) currently own the rights to popular role playing game Mass Effect, which ultimately means that the game is not exclusive to Microsoft. BioWare have already announced that Dragon Age: Origins would see a PS3 release alongside the Xbox360 and PC versions, which gives an indication that EA are holding true to their usual multi-platform idea. However, the fundemental point is that since EA owns the rights to Mass Effect, we could see a PS3 version of the upcoming sequel. A statement from Matt Atwood implies that they haven’t completetly shut down the possibility of a PS3 version of Mass Effect 2, as Atwood says: “We’ve only announced 360 and PC. At this point we’re really focused on those platforms.”

So the conclusion is that Mass Effect 2 seeing a PS3 release is a possibility. I’ve discussed it in a previous article, but since more evidence has been brought to the table, I felt the need to bring it up again. Don’t take this as definite just yet, because at this point it’s just a possibility. We’ll let you know if any official confirmations are made.

Update
: Matt Atwood spoke to Joystiq regarding Mass Effect 2′s exclusivity to PC and Xbox360, where he said the following: “It [exclusivity] actually does exist for Mass Effect 2. And beyond that, we haven’t announced any plans.”
While this does put a damper on the chances, keep it in mind that they haven’t given PS3 owners a firm “no” just yet.
