Modern Warfare 2 to keep Call of Duty name

Modern Warfare 2 to keep Call of Duty name

Infinity Ward’s upcoming Modern Warfare 2 has now officially been renamed to retain the Call of Duty franchise name. This is most definitely a good choice in order to avoid consumer confusion. Both Activision and Infinity Ward’s Robert Bowling officially stated that the game will be called Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 from this point onwards. Robert Bowling gave reasoning as to why this decision was made with the following statement: “Infinity Ward’s Modern Warfare 2 is the direct sequel to Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. We have focused our attention on Modern Warfare in order to most effectively communicate the fact that this is the first true sequel in the Call of Duty series.” The plus side to this is that newcomers to the Call of Duty series will easily be able to see that Modern Warfare 2 is a part of it. This decision ultimately benefits the marketing of the product as well seeing that the Call of Duty series has been around for so many years and has established a large name for itself in the gaming industry. I hope this is the last we’ll hear about the whole name-changing saga as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is due to be released on the 10th of November 2009.

Hey Tody remember what we discussed? Round about when you gonna do that? Coz i wanna be first to read that article and i think its right that it retains the COD in the name coz it still is part of the series eg if the MGS series has a spin off, new title that is completely different like RISING it still Retains the METAL GEAR SOLID in the Name hence i think it only right that MW2 retain the COD in the title
