August’s Game Releases!

August’s Game Releases!

July has gone by pretty much unnoticed. It was a favourable month for PC owners though, as they finally were able to get their hands on the likes of Resident Evil 5, Street Fighter IV and Bionic Commando. However, overall, it was a quiet month as far as games are concerned. Now entering the month of August, let’s take a look at what’s heading our way, because it seems like this month will definitely be more exciting than the last.

Note: The games listed here are not all games being released in August, but rather the more anticipated ones.
Note: eGamer’s “MA” (most anticipated) title for the month is the last game in the article.

eGamer’s MA title for May

It was unfortunate last month to see no games to be truly excited about, but in August that’s about to change as the next-gen Wolfenstein game is set to be released. Simply named “Wolfenstein”, this game is a sequel to Return to Castle Wolfenstein, an FPS game released way back in 2001. All I can say at this point is that we’re especially looking forward to it because the multiplayer component was announced to be following in the footsteps of one of the greatest online, class-based first person shooters ever made: Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory. Look out for the full review during the course of this month.

Wolfenstein

Local (SA) Release Date: 14-18 August 2009 (expected)

PS3

That’s all for August. It’s not a very large list, but there are definitely a few potentially great games to consider. I have one important thing to add to this article though, regarding the upcoming stealth action title, Batman: Arkham Asylum. You might notice, by digging around, that a lot of websites have it listed for a late August release or so, which begs the question as to why it’s not up here. The reason is that many other sites have the game’s release dated for the 7th of September. Personally, I’m also doubtful of an August release, because earlier this year an announcement regarding the game’s delay came up, where it was said that the game would most likely be out in September. Anyway, I’m not entirely sure on the release date for it, but I’ll be sure to let you know, either with the review or in next month’s release list.
