Modern Warfare 2′s Custom Killstreaks
C&VG reported that the UK Gaming magazine, PS3M, has apparently got the finer details on how the new multiplayer, customizable killstreak system works in Infinity Ward’s highly anticipated sequel, Call of Duty 6: Modern Warfare 2. According to the magazine, players will be able to alter their killstreak rewards in order to fit their skill level. For example, in Call of Duty 4, for all players, three kills rewarded you with a UAV scan, five an air strike and seven a fighter helicopter. In Modern Warfare 2, however, players will be able to select the killstreak rewards they want and the amount of kills required depends on the power and effectiveness of your choice. The whole idea behind this is so that newcomers and lesser skilled players can choose to have less powerful killstreak rewards that are easier to get while the more advanced players could choose the more powerful rewards that require much more kills.
Infinity Ward’s Robert Bowling briefly elaborated on the Custom Killstreak system with the following words: “You can have a three killstreak or a fifteen killstreak if you want, or something like the AC-130 [firing down in black and white from an airborne gunship] is one of the highest killstreaks you can select. You take control of that and can fire down for thirty seconds, blow guys up.”
This serves to give a decent enough indication of what to expect in the final game, but as soon was we receive more details on this system, and Modern Warfare 2 in general, we’ll be sure to let you know. Call of Duty 6: Modern Warfare 2 will be releasing, if all goes well, on the 10th of November 2009 on PC, PS3 and Xbox360.
