WipEout HD coming to Blu-ray

Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) sent out a press release today which confirms that they will be releasing a Blu-ray disk version of the PlayStation 3′s incredibly fast paced, futuristic racer, Wipeout HD. This disc, at retail, will include the original game as well as the recently released expansion pack, Fury. Below is just some information taken from the press release to tell you more:

PlayStation Network game WipEout HD for PLAYSTATION 3 (PS3). Now, the complete anti-gravity racing experience is being released on a single Blu-ray Disc that will combine not just the original WipEout HD title – a stunning High Definition reworking of the greatest tracks from the iconic franchise – but also the Fury expansion pack.

The resulting package will give racers 14 reversible racetracks to race solo, against friends or against eight players online, 12 teams to choose from, a huge arsenal of combat weapons to take opponents down with, two whole campaigns to complete and a soundtrack packed with some of the biggest names in dance music.

The game will be released on the 16th of October, in Europe, so hopefully we in South Africa can expect the game to come around the same time. It will cost 25 Euros, which is roughly R276 (although this price is likely to change in South Africa). If you’ve been waiting for a good opportunity to try out the PS3′s immensely popular racer, Wipeout, this is most definitely it.
