Crytek UK working on a new FPS

Crytek UK, previously known as Free Radical Design, the creators of the highly acclaimed FPS series, Timesplitters, have revealed that they are currently working on a new, original first person shooter. This news was revealed by Karl Hilton, the developer’s studio head, in an article on Develop, which speaks about Crytek’s various international studios. The following was said by Karl Hilton which seals the deal on this news surrounding a new FPS project: “We are currently concepting up an original IP that we hope will become a defining game series for the UK studio. However, in reality, the opportunity to make any kind of original FPS genre game where we get to focus on the quality of both the multiplayer and single player experience is what drives people at the studio. We have a strong history of creativity here, and we want to take that forward with Crytek and the CryENGINE 3.”

Free Radical Design was bought over by Crytek in February 2009, in case you were wondering about the opening line of this article. Despite the fact that Free Radical Design’s last game, the PS3 exclusive, first person shooter, Haze, did not perform well, this new project just might be the outcome of what they have learned from their mistakes. There are no more details regarding this project, so we can’t confirm a release date or on which consoles it will appear. Look out for more details on this as it comes.
