God of War III Ultimate Edition Revealed & Detailed
Today, SCEA and Santa Monica Studios posted an update on the PlayStation Blog and, in doing so, have lifted the curtains on the God of War III Ultimate Edition – a first ever for the God of War series. Earlier this year, SCEA and Santa Monica Studios ran a poll that asked fans what they would like to see in a collector’s edition of the game, and it seems that the words of the fans were taken very seriously, because this bundle is simply loaded with exciting content. To quote their exact words, they said “we took your advice and created something epic and filled it with premium collectible and exclusive digital content.” This all begs the question: what exactly makes the God of War III Ultimate Edition so exciting? Well, I’d suggest, to find the answer to that question, check out the list of features below and reach your own conclusion:
The Ultimate Edition will feature the following:
Exclusive Collectibles
- High-End Sculpted Replica of Pandora’s Box.
- Limited-Edition God of War Art Book featuring exclusive art, content and interviews.
Exclusive Digital Content (Available via PlayStation Network voucher codes on day of launch)
- God of War Combat Arena containing an exclusive environment and seven challenges.
- Premium Kratos Skin “Dominus.”
- God of War: Unearthing the Legend Franchise Documentary – a full-length movie documentary depicting the history of the God of War franchise.
- God of War Trilogy Soundtrack – God of War, II, and III scores from the game (mp3 digital download).
- God of War: Blood and Metal EP – a heavy metal homage featuring original music inspired by God of War (mp3 digital download).
Additionally, alongside the Ultimate Edition, SCEA and Santa Monica Studios have also revealed the pre-order bonuses for the game, which only makes things even more interesting and exciting for fans. Pre-ordering God of War 3 from select retailers rewards you with a voucher code which allows you to download the God of War III E3 2009 Demo, off of PlayStation Network (PSN), starting today. Furthermore, those who order from one of these three (or all three if you’re crazy enough!) retailers, namely Amazon, GameCrazy or GameStop, will receive, in addition to the voucher code for the E3 2009 demo, an exclusive Kratos skin to use in-game. Regrading the pricing of the game, no official word has been made yet, but so far GameStop, if you’re willing to import, has the God of War Ultimate Edition priced at $99.99, which is approximately R775. Either way, while it is quite expensive, do you really need more incentive to part with your cash in order to get your hands on some irrelevant features, cool music and shiny objects? Oh yeah, the in-game bonuses, and the God of War III game itself, are pretty awesome additions as well!
God of War III will be released exclusively on the PlayStation 3 in March of 2010. In conclusion, here are the three bonus skins that you will receive (when ordering from one of the following retailers), most likely in order of Amazon, GameCrazy and GameStop.
