ATI 5870
This time round I will try and cover most of the hardware stuff that I can do.
We will begin with the release of the new 5870 from ATI.
Doesn’t it look just awesome?
Unfortunately, there was no specific press release about it, so I had to scrounge up some info from elsewhere here are the specifications of the card:
Chipset: Radeon HD5800 series                                GPU: Cypress
Technology: 40nm Die Size: 334 mm(2)Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Transistors: 2154M
GPU Clock: 850 MHz                                                     Memory: 1200 MHz
And the most importantly, this is the only DirectX 11 card out there.
LanGames IPTV

Also worthy of mention is LanGames, as they launch their IPTV at rAge. This will be South Africa’s first dedicated channel for all gaming news, etc. There will be 3 ways to receive this channel:
1)Â Â Â Â Â A webcast which will be accessible via browsers.
2)Â Â Â Â Â A mobicast which will be for GPRS enabled phones.
3)Â Â Â Â Â A fully fledged IPTV accessible from any compatible client software that exists in home entertainment machines e.g. Xbox360 and Wii
LanGames have also struck a deal in the works with Vuzu, in an attempt to enable them to broadcast their highlights on the channel.
To quote what a success they are:
Our streaming provider has supplied us with stats stating that we had 4367 connections from South African users, 543 from Russian users, 259 Philippines users and thats just to name a few international countries
As they say the numbers speak for themselves…
NAG Lan
“Save the best for last†— The Nag LAN.
Well the LAN was a new experience for me, as this was the first year I got to go for it. From meeting all my online peeps to tanking out almost 60 hours on roughly 6 hours sleep, it was a experience everyone should have. Of course there were slight problems with the LAN (laggy, losing connection, etc), but nothing the VC Crew didn’t sort out very quickly.
And here are some pictures to enjoy for those that could not make it to the LAN.
