Assassin’s Creed 2 sells 1.6 million copies in one week
Ubisoft’s recently released Assassin’s Creed 2 has just reached a milestone in its sales. Ubisoft estimates that the game currently has a sales count of 1.6 million copies worldwide. Gaming website Edge points out that Assassin’s Creed 2 is now right behind Infinity Ward’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 in the UK formats charts. The following, quoted directly from Edge, puts these sales figures into perspective: “In doing so the Xbox 360 and PS3 title outpaced opening week sales of 2007’s Assassin’s Creed by 32 per cent. The original game has sold over eight million units.” An impressive achievement.
“Assassin’s Creed remains the fastest selling new videogame intellectual property ever in the US,” said Ubisoft.
Assassin’s Creed 2 was released on the 17th of November for PlayStation 3 and Xbox360, while the PC version is due to arrive in early 2010 if there are no delays.
