Far Cry 3 confirmed to be in development
Way back in February we had a retrospective article on the history of Crysis and Far Cry, which also contained a confirmation on Far Cry 3. However, back then it was merely confirmed to be a working idea, but now we have a thumbs up on the game being in development. Over at Blue’s News in a recent post, Ubisoft’s writer Kevin Shortt confirms that the Montreal Studio is definitely working on Far Cry 3. The information was given during an interview in the Official PlayStation Magazine where short said the following, when asked if he, personally, was working on Far Cry 3: “No I’m not. But I know the team are and what I’ve seen looks pretty exciting.”
Previously the developers have expressed their enthusiasm for the African setting of the game and it looks like Far Cry 3 will remain in the same environment and setting as its predecessor. Personally, I’m looking forward to Far Cry 3, because I really enjoy all of Crytek’s games. I even enjoyed Far Cry 2, despite all of its flaws of heavy repetitiveness, not living up to its promises, being shallow and the rest of the issues. I guess I’m just a sucker for open world first person shooters – with awesome graphics and immersive game worlds.
So that’s it then, Far Cry 3 is on its way. There is no more information on the game and not even a hint at a release date, but I’m guessing we’ll hear more at next year’s E3 gaming convention – which eGamer will be covering in full detail as it happens. Check back for more information on Far Cry 3 as it becomes available.
