Heavy Rain Collector’s Edition
Yesterday an article went up on the PlayStation Blog that informed us of the pre-order bonus you’ll be getting if you order the game from select retailers in the US. I’m not entirely sure if you’ll be getting the same content when pre-ordering from one of the South African retailers though. For pre-ordering Heavy Rain, you’ll receive the first episode (there are three in total – due to arrive as DLC packs after the release of Heavy Rain) of The Heavy Rain Chronicles, priced at $4.99 (about R38) per episode, titled, “Heavy Rain: Chronicle One – The Taxidermist.” It will be available, only to those who pre-order the game, when Heavy Rain is released. For those who don’t pre-order, you’ll have to wait a little longer.
Quoted directly from the PlayStation Blog, to fill you in on what the Heavy Rain Chronicles are, is the following:
“What exactly are The Heavy Rain Chronicles? Each Chronicle will offer unique, stand-alone, playable short stories featuring one of Heavy Rain’s main characters, and a storyline taking place either before or after Heavy Rain’s original narrative. Similar to Heavy Rain, each episode will offer a unique journey and different outcomes based on the players’ decisions and actions.
Heavy Rain: Chronicle One – The Taxidermist will feature investigative journalist Madison Paige in one of her first cases tracking down a serial killer. Most of you are familiar with this episode as it is an expansion and update to the original “Taxidermist” demo that received such positive response when shown last year.”
Now, it’s been confirmed that this pre-order DLC won’t be pre-order content in Europe, but it will instead come with the newly announced Heavy Rain: Collector’s Edition. This Collector’s Edition will include episode one of the Heavy Rain Chronicles, “The Taxidermist”, the game’s soundtrack and a dynamic XMB theme for your PS3 console. It’s not much, but I guess we’ll have to wait for pricing details to determine whether or not it’s worth it.
