Mass Effect’s Story Arc Ends at Mass Effect 3

Mass Effect’s Story Arc Ends at Mass Effect 3

BioWare have already mentioned often that Mass Effect will be a trilogy, so this is no surprise. However, they’ve confirmed that Mass Effect 3 will be the final chapter in the game’s story arc. Shacknews revealed that Casey Hudson, ME project director, told a press event in Edmonton that, “‘Mass Effect 3′ will be easier because we don’t have to worry about the continuity into the next one.” Now that could mean one of two things. Either there won’t be a Mass Effect 4, which I doubt judging by the massive success of the series, or there won’t be a continuing story after Mass Effect 3, meaning that Commander Shepard’s story will come to a conclusion after the final game in the trilogy. The latter seems more likely to happen, I think.

Mass Effect 2 will be released on Tuesday, the 26th of January 2010 for PC and Xbox360 in North America. For Europe and South Africa, the game will release on the 29th of January 2010, three days later, on Friday.
