Mirror’s Edge 2 accidentally revealed?
We suspected a long time ago that EA were bound to do Mirror’s Edge 2, since the first game was more an experiment than anything else. Recently, it seems like DICE’s senior lighting artist Oscar Carlén might just have revealed that Mirror’s Edge 2 is in development, because Carlén’s resume briefly stated that his “2009-present” work included Mirror’s Edge 2 and Battlefield 3, which was confirmed back in June. Naturally, as secrecy would have it, this information was removed soon after it began spreading to gamers. We’re not entirely sure if Mirror’s Edge 2 is on EA’s radar, especially since they’ve just made even more cuts to their team, having sacked 1500 employers very recently, which means they probably won’t be releasing as many games per year as they usually do. Not to mention that Mirror’s Edge, the first game, underperformed at retail, despite it being well received critically.
The future will decide whether or not we’re going to be getting Mirror’s Edge 2, but one thing is for certain: There is no shortage of Battlefield! With Battlefield: Bad Company 2 incoming and Battlefield 3 currently in development, it looks like the series might just be ready to reclaim its massive online FPS throne. It’s all in EA’s hands now.
