The MSSA Has Once Again Shown Us Why They Cannot Win The Community Over
Our favourite local gaming organisation is back in the news. Mind Sports South Africa are currently battling (not until the death) with one of its clubs, Club Xploit. It’s been said that Ria Venter, a member of Club Xploit was voted onto the MSSA’s Woman’s Desk, which then saw the entire Xploit club being suspended by the level-headed gaming organisation.
Keeping in normal MSSA fashion, the events and details are complicated — just like their entire organisation. According to doGaming it was said that the MSSA had an executive meeting on the 9th of November where Ria Venter was voted onto the Woman’s Desk. The Woman’s desk will need to promote female MSSA activities. Washing dishes, lunch, tea, etc. Just kidding.
A recent MSSA meet-up revolved around a decision to re-vote the woman-desk issue. David Vannucci, Vice President, said that the invalid votes from both the previous meeting, and the minutes, were removed and this resulted in 11 eligible votes.
David couldn’t seem to remember the votes, but it was apparently inconclusive. As a result of their bad organisation, horrible voting process and unexplainable structure the committee will have to re-vote.
The documents from the meeting showed that Ria Venter scored nine votes, Mildred Diale scored seven votes and Innocentia Motsumi scored a whopping zero votes.
Following in other MSSA tradition, the top-dog Colin Webster himself refused to comment. He then said that was bound by SASCOC to not discuss such matters.. Of what we think could be abuse, and misleading the public.
Colin said that some of the votes couldn’t be counted as a few members didn’t offer their hard earned salary, along with heads of board control not being allowed to vote. eGamer top tip: Perhaps you should stipulate who can and cannot vote before the process takes place.
The best news about this story is definitely the following piece on why Club Xploit was suspended. Well, this is only speculation as Colin wouldn’t comment on the suspension.
It has reached doGaming’s attention that Ria Venter — the winner of the Woman’s seat — asked a number of potentially tricky questions. These questions revolved around the plans for next year and what the MSSA would to do:
- Change its image within the community.
- Promote e-Sports within South Africa.
- Obtain funding for such activities.
- Address public opinion of the MSSA.
Alongside these questions, our new MSSA-fighting hero, Ria Venter asked the MSSA for:
- A strategic/business plan for the year ahead.
- The name of the MSSA’s auditors.
- Two years of financial statements to be made available to all members.
- Minutes from all the meetings of the MSSA Council, Executive Committee and Management board for the last two years.
- A detailed breakdown of how the Incredible Connection Sponsorship money was allocated by the MSSA.
- A list of all MSSA members, including those who had paid their membership fees and those who had not.
Unfortunately for us, but fortunately for the MSSA, Colin is currently overseas enjoying a gaming holiday for the Fifa Cup.
As it stands right now there are about 40 or so clubs affiliated with the MSSA, where only nine or so are paid members.
Seems like asking questions whilst in the MSSA is even more dangerous then asking questions when you are a free-soul.
