The Battlefield Bad Company 2 Demo Goes Live Today — Our Short Preview
The highly anticipated sequel to the game that lets you blow up the whole stage, literally, has been released in demo form. After the success of the first game, people have been eagerly following the development of this game from the announcement to the demo. Follow us in a journey through Bad Company 2.
In the sequel, players will take on the role as a member of squad which is AWOL behind enemy lines. The four face a personal quest. Not much is known about what this personal quest is yet, but it will obviously be something interesting.
Past experiences with the game will see a few quirky characters joining you in your quest. Your characters name is Preston Marlow, from the previous game, and you have your remaining buddies from B-Company with you. The story sees you running through enemy lines trying to hunt for a weapon made in South America.
Thankfully the game designers have said that the single player is going to be about 10 hours, and this makes it viable for those gamers without an internet connection. Yeah, this game will be a massive hit online. In fact, most players are only getting this for online play.
All that aside, we are not really playing the game for the story, as a lot of people are wanting the multi-player feature. The multi-player is set to explode and why is that? Well they have allowed you in this one to literally demolish buildings down to the ground. No more camping in the town square, where no one can see you because you found a tiny bit of house which can’t be blown up. With Modern Warfare 2’s failure to include dedicated servers DICE, didn’t hesitate to capitalize on the moment and announced that they would have dedicated servers.
The dedicated servers will need authenticated hosts, and WebAfrica is currently working on a deal with DICE.
For those gamers that opt to pre-order the edition of the game, you can sit back and relax knowing that you will be able to pawn some noobs with the extras you get. What are said extras? Well for starters you get a radar on tanks that can see enemies even when they are hidden, extra armour for tanks, and a coaxial gun for the driver of the tank. There will also be three extra infantry weapons that come with it: the M1 Thompson, the Colt M1911, a tracer dart gun, and the AKS-74.
Do not fear if you cannot afford to get the limited edition do not fear as all these things are unlockable at a later level.
When the vehicles start rolling, you either jump in one and fight or run for your life. The vehicles range from the UH-60 Black Hawk, to a quad bike followed by, a two-man patrol boat, an AA-gun mounted on a light tank, and a UAV helicopter controlled via laptop, the AH-64 Apache, the M1A2 Abrams, T-90 tanks, and the Mi-24 Hind. This is only what we know about, as there is a high possibility of other vehicles.
Remember, the demo is out!
