Activision confirms 2010 releases – New Call of Duty, Tony Hawk, and more

Activision Blizzard have recently revealed their gaming plans, well, some of them, for the year 2010, which include new games for Call of Duty, Tony Hawk, Spiderman, and Guitar Hero. It’s not much of a surprise, as we reported on this quite a while ago, this is just confirmation to what was said earlier, with some extra information of course. During a very recent earnings call, Activision CEO Mike Griffith revealed that games such as Tony Hawk: RIDE, which received very poor ratings from critics, will be released by the end of this year. Activision definitely don’t need reasons to be making sequels for Call of Duty and Guitar Hero, as those two games greatly helped in pushing the publisher into higher than expected earnings for the 2009 holiday quarter.

The company earned itself $1.56 billion USD during the fourth quarter of the year, and, during the whole year, Activision secured a very impressive $4.28 billion in revenue. Mike Griffith said that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 was the best-selling game overall in the U.S. and Europe, which is no surprise.

Personally, out of that list there, I’m only looking forward to the next Spiderman game. I know, I know, they aren’t that great, but I’m hoping for someone to try and “Batman Arkham Asylum” a Spiderman game. If you don’t get my meaning, someone who will really put the effort to make a great Spiderman game. I can’t say I’m looking forward to the next Call of Duty, especially if it’s going back to World War II, but I guess I’ll probably end up playing it anyway.

One thing is for sure though, Activision like their sequels.

another COD, sigh. Yet they, or just Blizzard takes more than a decade to produce a Star Craft 2 , Diablo 3 and there isn’t even a Warcraft 4 to speak of. All very popular games still being played 2 day.
