Dreamhack Drops DotA… But Do We Really Care? No.

Dreamhack has dropped its support for DotA as they are moving towards the new comer, HoN. There doesn’t seem to be an exact reason as to why this is happening but it could be due to a big backing from S2 Games.

Other reasons might include that Dreamhack was never really a good DotA competition, as there were other major DotA tournaments running at the same time.

Will we ever know the truth? Doubt it, but then again who cares. HoN is good, but so is DotA.

With all the sensational news regarding HoN, there might soon be a few new players in the market, despite the fact that DotA isn’t really dead… Just yet.

South Africa might still however be quite far away from a HoN future.. I mean, if our SAT-3 cable keeps breaking who knows what might occur.

HoN isn’t competitively balanced. Sounds like the 1.6 vs CSS argument all over again though. At the end of the day, the funner game will win. HoN definitely has some 1up’s on DotA, but ONLY because of the benefits of it’s platform. If they were both just maps on an engine, DotA is clearly superior in many ways.
