Incredible Connection Drop The MSSA… Like It’s Hot

The Mind Sports South Africa failure has just lost their Incredible Connection sponsorship. Trevor Henry, the guy that started the connection between the two organisations has said that the main reason behind the decision to drop the sponsorship was because IC are taking a more standard approach to gaming.

“Each event will be judged by its own merits and our involvement will be determined by a number of factors including exposure, participants and scale of the event,” he says.

Unfortunately, we feel that this comment is slightly untrue — however, we’ll give them the benefit of the doubt.

Off the record: I feel that this is untrue as it’s becoming a “We’ll support CoD” cash-cow, where other games with the larger gaming base do not receive any rewards. No further comments. Sorry.

Furthermore, IC did learn, and value, the MSSA sponsorship. The MSSA sponsorship could however be seen as an easy way into the gaming market. This has all changed as IC are looking to start their own little gaming world with competitions.

Should be exciting, right?

Well unfortunately, the excitement will only benefit certain gamers.

Lastly, we’d like to ask — where does this leave the MSSA? They are dropping in numbers, games and players. What’s next?

On the one side i’m extremely fucking happy that IC gave them the carrot up the arse. However this is again another example of retail that is now very sketchy with throwing their money towards our competitive scene because of fuckup organisations that waste money and fuck them around.

    STOP FUCKING AROUND THE SPONSORS!

The MSSA was indeed fortunate to have Incredible Connection as a sponsor for the 2009 year.

However, due to the fact that Incredible Connection made any sponsorship for 2010 conditional on the MSSA handing its member database over to Incredible Connection, the MSSA felt that it was no longer in the interests of the MSSA or its players to continue with such sponsorship. It must be noted by all readers that in terms of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act, and applicable privacy legislation, that no organisation may hand over such database without the consent of the individuals concerned.
