LEGO Star Wars III Announced
LucasArts and TT Games have stepped up and announced that development of a new Lego Star Wars game, titled Lego Star Wars III: The Clone Wars, is currently underway, and the game will be released in autumn this year on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii, PSP and DS. Word is that this game will cover the first season of the Clone Wars animated TV series, and will feature characters from both the show and past Lego Star Wars games. There will also be new head-to-head battle modes and an upgraded level builder, enabling players to create customised bases and in-game battlefields. Players can choose to either be a Jedi or Separatist with all-new character abilities, such as Squad command, Lightsaber slicing, Lightsaber jumps, long distance Jedi attacks and Grapple Tie-Ups.
Darell Rodriguez, from LucasArts, commented: “The LEGO Star Wars franchise is a massive hit with fans, bringing in sales of over 20 million units worldwide. We’re thrilled to extend this experience to LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars, delivering the humour and fun players expect from this award winning franchise.”
“LucasArts is an amazing partner, and working with them on the next iteration of the LEGO Star Wars series continues to be a great experience,” said TT Games’ Tom Stone.
When more becomes available on this game, we’ll let you know.
Oh, and t0asty_the_penguin, our most recent addition to the eGamer team, made a rather interesting comment that I fully agree with, saying: “It baffles me as to how much George Lucas can milk the Star Wars Franchise, you’d think that with the kind of imagination that created the series, you’d be able to come up with something else.”
I wish the world would see it that way. But I guess everyone loves Star Wars, despite how much we hate seeing the endless stream of games and movie content.
