Batman Arkham Asylum: GotY Edition Hitting You In 3D

Batman Arkham Asylum: GotY Edition Hitting You In 3D

Square Enix London announced at the end of last year that it would be making a Game of the Year Edition of Batman Arkham Asylum. Now this got some people excited because these edition’s generally mean bonus content and who can honestly get enough of the greatest Batman game to ever exist. Anyway, details were recently dished out and not surprisingly, the already available DLC maps will be included in the GotY Edition but what caught everybody by surprise is the fact that the game will be playable in… wait for it… 3D!

The only other game to be in proper 3D is Avatar but that’s just really because the movie was in 3D. I therefore count Arkham Asylum as the first game to be in 3D, of its own accord. This is a big step for gaming and will surely enhance the experience. It was announced that the game would be playable in 3D on any full HD TV but what pissed off all some American gamers is that the 3D capability is only actually available on PAL(the system that encodes the TV’s colour) TV’s. Luckily this is the kind of TV that just about everybody else has since it is used in Europe, Asia & (luckily) Africa. There is no word yet on whether Square Enix is working on an NTSC (US TV Encoding system) compatible version but so what, at least we get it. What’s amazing about all this is that you can play the game in proper 3D on any TV and all you need are the kind of 3D glasses you got when going to see Avatar.

Batman Arkham Asylum: Game of The Year Edition ships out on March 26 for PS3, XBox 360 & PC.
