Let’s Talk About 3D Gaming — Will This Kill Competition?

Let’s Talk About 3D Gaming — Will This Kill Competition?

I keep hearing about new monitors coming out and of course, new 3D screens. Yep, all that jazz is literally around the corner.

With motion control technology — coming soon, I hope — will 3D gaming be a futuristic first; advertised as a gaming desire?

How do you think 3D gaming will change the gaming world? I feel that if 3D games are released, say by the end of this year, not much will change. It’s hard to expect 3D gaming to become a serious competitive product from developers, as it’s just way too new.

I feel that it will be strictly social for the next few years.

Motion control technology is already out there (see Nintendo’s Wii), but Microsoft and Japanese giant, Sony, are working on something more exclusive and better. Will their variations of motion control add to the fun and loved world that is gaming?

Once again, motion control gaming cannot be seen as competitive gaming, however with 3D it should boost social gaming by at least over 9000%.

Usually I’m a bit worried about the inevitable change, however with 3D I’m excited. Very, very excited — but once again, this will never overrule my lust to pwn n00bs competitively.

And you?

Yeah no, I’ll NEVER wear a pair of silly glasses just to play a game.

Graphics has never been a big factor for me when it comes to choosing games, I really rather be spending my time playing some old platformer on NES/SNES/Genesis than one of those new stuff like Assassin Creed and God of War. Same with fighting games, I can’t stand 3D fighters.

See, thing is it would be fun to dance around fighting peeps with motion control in 3D however, just playing in 3D might make things tough. I don’t feel that 3D will be able to make gaming better on a competitive level..

Personally, I’d want 3D if I was playing something like Crysis, to amplify the spectacular visuals, or something like, say, Uncharted 2 to increase the cinematic experience. However, as far as competitive gaming is concerned, I would never want to play 3D, purely because it can be distracting  Maybe if I see it in action I’ll change my mind, but that’s my view for now.

As for motion controllers, bleh, I’m not really a fan, as I believe that games should be played the way it was intended, with a controller  I don’t really like motion controllers much, well, judging from what we’ve seen so far (*cough* Wii).

3D could be pretty cool, especially if we can get the 3d glasses that they get in the US coz those are aviators. 3D itself won’t do much for gaming besides make it more immersive, it’s not gonna set the gaming world ablaze with its awesomeness.
