Microsoft Plans To Add USB Storage Support To The Xbox 360

Joystiq has come across information which confirms that a USB stick will soon be able to work on the Xbox 360. The gaming site found that “USB Mass Storage Device Support on Xbox 360″ is soon to be a leading feature as “increased market penetration of high-capacity, high throughput USB mass storage devices” and also Xbox updates on local storage devices could save consumers time when updating.

Once the update is official, and live, all Live users will be able to download Arcade games and Live Indie games to their memory stick. “USB storage devices may, however, have far greater memory capacity than MUs (at the date of writing, the largest MU is 512 MB), and may therefore support previously infeasible operations-such as installation of a full disc-based title.”

Microsoft has said that the device will need to use a storage device with a minimum of 1gb of space, and after this everything should run smoothly.
