Move — That’s The Name Of Sony’s New Motion Control System

Sony has officially announced the name of their new motion control technology. We recently rumoured that it might be called the Arc, and many other people in and around the gaming world commented about the technology by using the same ‘Arc’ name. We thought this might have been a done deal.

However, the Arc name was simply the prototype name for the system.

So, what is the proper, and official name?

Move.

That’s right. Sony has named their motion-based input system as ‘Move’, and this kills all previous rumours.

“The Move is fast precise and accurate. From the tiniest twist to the strongest punch, you can express yourself. This is the next generation of motion gaming,” said Peter Dille, Senior Vice President of Marketing and the PlayStation Network. “Nothing has been this precise.”

Alongside the Move will be a Move Subcontroller which will be available. This subcontroller will allow you to play shooters like SOCOM 4 with two new motion controllers. One unit will control shooting, while the other will handle functionality and movement.

Now we can move along… And stop commenting with speculation.
