Brink on PS3 and 360 is ‘as good as PC’, will feature ‘human-level AI’

Richard Ham, creative director at Splash Damage, who are the developers of team-based multiplayer shooter, Brink, has stated that the differences between the PC and console versions of the game are “hard to tell at a glance”.

During a talk with Skewed and Reviewed, he said, “It’s been a big challenge transitioning from a PC-only developer to a developer working on PS3, Xbox and PC at the same time.”

“Our biggest success is achieving this goal. Right now, all three platforms are running great and it’s hard to tell at a glance the difference between the three, until you look at the player’s hands to see how he’s controlling the game!”

In other news regarding Brink, creative director Richard Ham said, again while speaking to Skewed and Reviewed, that the game will feature ‘human-level AI’.

“Our AI is capable of doing literally every action that you can.”

“Brink’s AI has to be great because of the way we blend single player and multiplayer gaming seamlessly,” said Ham. “At any time, you could be playing against AI or against other human players, and our goal is that you can’t tell the difference.”

“Not only are the enemies more ruthless and surprising, but your teammates are more self reliant and useful,” he explained. “In Brink, you won’t have to babysit your AI squad mates and make sure they do their jobs.

“Actually, if you’re not doing well, they’ll babysit you!”

Quite a claim to make about Brink! I guess we’ll just have to see what it’s made of once we get to play the game.
