Alan Wake 2 Is “Still Not Confirmed”

Oskari Hakkinen, the boss over at Remedy, developers of Alan Wake, has firm in saying that a sequel for Alan Wake hasn’t been confirmed just yet. We bring this up because at the time of the game’s completion, it was already stated that there was more story to be told, and a sequel was pretty much on the cards. But this is just to inform you that no official announcement has been made.

Speaking to IGN Hakkinen said: “We’re in a limbo at the moment where neither of us are talking about it.

“Microsoft have an option for it. That was in the deal a long time ago… and I don’t see why they wouldn’t. We’re happy with the partnership and they’re happy with the game.”

According to Hakkinen, Microsoft are currently interested in more downloadable content for the original game.

“Microsoft are throwing the idea around of more episodes, but you know the size of our studio. We’re a small team. We wouldn’t really be able — if we were to confirm a sequel at some point, which we’d like to do relatively soon.”

Regarding how long Alan Wake 2 would take to develop, he had this to say:

“Max Payne 1 took us also five years to make,” says Hakkinen.

“Max Payne 2 took us 18 months. I think we’d be looking at something of a similar cycle.”

There you have it. Alan Wake 2 is something they’d definitely like to do, but it seems more DLC will come first. It’s just a matter of waiting for the announcement then.

We definitely wouldn’t mind, as we very much liked the first game in our review of it.
