PoP: The Forgotten Sands (PC Version)
Reader’s MA Title for June 2010
Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands (PC) was declared the most anticipated title for June by our fellow friends and readers, as decided by our poll. Look out for our full review which is due soon. We apologise for taking extra time to get it out, among others, but the game received a slight delay to South Africa, only landing in on the 25th of May, and we’re currently working on some nice new site changes and features which should be up and running before you know it! Oh, and exams and stuff had something to do with it as well.

Summary
Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands is a new entry in the Prince of Persia series, one that is an interquel that will add itself into the Sands of Time trilogy. Taking place in the gap between Sands of Time and Warrior Within, players will once again control the Prince, who in the game is paying visit to his brother’s kingdom following his adventure in Azad. The Prince finds the royal palace under siege from a mighty army bent on its destruction. When the decision is made to use the ancient power of the Sand in a desperate gamble to save the kingdom from total annihilation, the Prince will embark on an epic adventure in which he will learn to bear the mantle of true leadership, and discover that great power often comes with great responsibility.
The Forgotten Sands promises to feature “many of the fan-favorite elements from the original series as well as new gameplay innovations”. Classic elements from the series make a return, such as wall running and the ability to rewind time. New features include elemental powers, like the power to solidify water and the power to create small tornadoes to deal with multiple enemies, and massive battles, which can have you take on up to 50 enemies at once. The combat system, while similar in mechanics to Sands of Time and Warrior Within, will focus a lot more on crowd control this time around.
Key Features:
- Classic Gameplay Reinvented: From huge-scale multi-enemy combat to dizzying feats of acrobatic prowess in gigantic environments enhanced by the Prince’s ability to control nature and time, Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands will push the Prince’s prodigious abilities to unseen levels.
- A Blockbuster Experience: Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands will offer players unforgettable set pieces made possible by the advanced technology offered by the award-winning Anvil engine. With all-out war at the gates of the kingdom, the Prince’s abilities will be challenged like never before through the course of epic wow moments.
- Mastery Over Nature: Wielding powers of nature and time, the Prince will have unparalleled mastery over his environment and his enemies. The Prince will discover that harnessing the forces of nature itself will prove to be a devastating companion to his ability to rewind time.
- Return of a Fan-Favourite Franchise: Set between Prince of Persia The Sands of Time and Prince of Persia: Warrior Within, Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands will provide fans a new chapter in the Prince of Persia universe and deepen their understanding of the Sands of Time series.
It should be noted that the Wii, DS and PSP versions of the game are being developed separately and as such will feature different gameplay compared to the PC, PS3 and Xbox360 versions.
