This is actually not what most would expect. Most would think that GTA or that plumber guy Mario would top these lists, right? Wrong!

According to the Computer Entertainment Supplier’s Association (CESA) of Japan, it would appear that neither cardboard gangsters or plumbing fans are the ones who have been ripping off the most games.

Final Fantasy and Pokemon fans.

According to CESA’s figures, Pokemon Platinum is the most pirated game on the DS with around 2,071,006 illegal downloads, but the cake for most pirated handheld game in the current generation goes to PSP for about 5,281,223 downloads of Dissidia: Final Fantasy.

Phantasy Star Portable 2, Dynasty Warriors Strikeforce and Monster Hunter Freedom Unite are also quite high on the PSP list. With Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies sits just above Mario Party DS, New Super Mario Bros. and Mario Kart DS on the DS list.

It seems “Core” Games are the most targeted, with the non-hardcore titles not as widely downloaded.

PSP is dead though.
