Blu-Ray Discs Now Available In Massive 100GB Format
Up until now, most Blu-ray discs have come in 25GB format with some arriving in 50GB format. God of War 3, for instance, was 35GB big and needed that 50GB monster of a disc.
Now Sharp has unveiled its latest innovation, the 100GB Blu-ray disc. This one is triple-layered over the 50GB double-layer and offers 100GB on re-writable discs but up to 128GB on once-off ROM discs. Sadly, this is not big news for the gaming community just yet as the discs cannot be read with the Blu-ray drives currently found in PS3′s since they are not able to read more than 2 layers. But perhaps, the PS3 will receive a hardware upgrade at some point that brings these leviathans of storage into play.
Don’t fear though because few games exceed more than 20-25GB in capacity. To put this disc into perspective, the average notebook comes with a 250GB HDD, that’s just two of these discs!
