PS3 Narrows Gap On 360 Global Sales
The PlayStation 3 is closing down on the Xbox 360. This has been revealed as Sony’s latest financial results confirm that they shipped 3.6 million less consoles than Microsoft.
Sony has confirmed that it has shipped 38.1 million PlayStation 3 consoles worldwide, whilst Microsoft announced last week that it has managed to ship 41.7 million Xbox 360s worldwide.
Some of you might be saying “3.6 million less! That is such a big number! WTH is this fanboi talking about?”
Well if we compare the sales of to those released in May of last year where Microsoft posted its worldwide sales at “over 30 million” for the Xbox 360, which was 7.3 million clear of Sony’s 22.7 million shipped PS3s confirmed in March 2009.
So, as you can see Sony has covered some major ground.
The closing of the gap could be due to many factors, such as Microsoft approaching the peak of its audience before Kinect reaches out to the masses, and of course The PS3 price cuts.
It seems the last and final showdown that will determine bragging rights will be in the hands of those who purchase a 360 for Kinect or a PS3 for Move.
“Sigh”, who would of thought it would come down to casual gamers and motion control.
