Sony’s New Handheld Could Be The Complete Package

Sony recently filed a trademark for something called the PlayView which was rumoured as being a handheld device that would offer not only gaming capabilities but also professional functions.

The Wall Street Journal has now confirmed speculations saying that “Sony is developing a portable device that shares characteristics of hand-held game machines, e-book readers and netbook computers, according to people familiar with the matter.”

It sounds like Sony has an iPad killer in the pipeline. It could just as well be a competitor for the iPhone as well but either way, Sony seems intent on producing the ultimate handheld device.

This was part of a bigger report focusing on Sony and Nintendo’s plans to incorporate 3G connectivity into their next handheld gaming consoles.
