As You Can See, We’ve Updated Our Site – Again

We’re really bad at keeping a single look for a long time. This is our fourth revamp in under two years.

Reason for the change is simple. Every theme we’ve tried always landed up either annoying us, or looking like another site. Not matter which theme we spent money on, someone else would always have it. And that’s because there’s millions of webpages on the intertron and it was bound to happen.

This time round we’ve modified something to be our own. The look we’re using here is similar to a popular newspaper theme, however we’ve changed it quite a bit. We’re using this theme as it falls in-line with future projects we’re thinking about.

We’re expecting a few bugs here and there, but nothing major. If you find something broken please email us about it.

So let’s start with the changes, shall we?

• Obviously the whole look and feel
• Reviews bar on top (might change to exclusives)
• Featured Posts lower down
• Larger thumbnails for each post
• More space on the side bar for features and awareness
• More space in the article itself
• Larger images
• Different styles for quotes & source linking
• Easier to interact with Tags, Categories, Social Media and Author Information
• Comments are no longer blocked up
• Comments only nest twice – meaning, you can only reply to the first comment on a new level. Thereafter it lines up neatly below for easier reading
• Changes to the footer – more links & ways to interact with us
• We now support backgrounds – one of the main reasons for the change
• We’ve moved away from contact forms – we only use email addresses now, for everything

That’s pretty much the look and feel updated.

We’ve also added functionality for RSS too. We’ve moved to FeedBurner (powered by Google) and this offers an Email news letter. If you’d like to move to the new feed URL it’s http://feeds.feedburner.com/eGamerZA – or you can keep the one you’re using now.

The news letter comes from Google, not us. Therefore we do not send these, and you won’t be spammed. The email news letter will arrive every morning between 9 to 11am where it will show all the posts from the previous 24 hours.

You’ll need to sign up for this on the right hand side. You will only receive this if you sign up for it.

Over the next few weeks we’ll be working on new features and functionality. We’ll announce more on this when it’s released.
