Microsoft’s New Xbox 360 Remote, Now With Transforming D-Pad

Microsoft’s New Xbox 360 Remote, Now With Transforming D-Pad

Earlier we wrote about Microsoft’s new Xbox controller which includes a transforming d-pad. The enhanced d-pad is something long overdue, and we’re glad that Microsoft has finally done something about this.

The d-pad on the new remote will be able to transform from something semi-flat to to something raised, and all it takes is the twist of the base.

Following the enhanced d-pad, Microsoft has decided to make all of the buttons on the remote grey; a not so welcome change. The colours helped to distinguish which button to press without having to read the letter on it.

Anyway, the shiny remote is scheduled to launch exclusively with the new Plug & Charge kit on the 9th of November in the US. Not sure about a local date just yet, however Europe will only receive it in February — so we might need to wait a bit.

So…shiny. That actually is a good idea from Microsoft.

It looks good but as long as the d-pad remains as 1 big unit/button then I still don’t like it. What’s up with removing the colour as well, that’s pretty stupid.
