Not Even Sony Expects Move To Sell From Day 1

Ray Maguire, Sony Computer Entertainment senior vice president was recently interviewed by Eurogamer where they asked about his expectations for Move sales. Ray said that he’s not really expecting loads of sales off the bat, instead word of mouth will intrigue people into buying their motion control hardware.

“Am I expecting a massive day one? Not particularly,” Maguire explained. “We didn’t with EyeToy, either. It went on to be massively successful.”

Ray then added, “As people saw the value when they tried it [EyeToy] they told their friends. Their friends bought it. They told their friends. Word of mouth grew the marketplace. That’s what I expect from Move as well.”

Microsoft on the other hand; they are pushing Kinect. A lot. Everyone knows what it’s about – even people that don’t know what it’s called know that Microsoft are planning ‘body sensor stuffs’.

Sigh, my fail friends never told me of the EyeToy and how “awesome” it was. jj :P lol

Anyway, this makes a lot of sense seeing as it’s just a Wii-clone. >_> Only ‘em epic games will get the peeps coming back for more (and intro’ing new peeps to the Move).

And only die hard fans will buy it first?

From all my friends there’s this one dude who buys any and everything as it’s released, even the EyeToy (which I 1st saw at his place and was like ‘that’s cool but it’s not for me’). So I rate once the Move is out in SA, I’ll stop off for a visit. ;)
