Call Of Duty: Black Ops Will Get You Addicted To Gambling [Video]

Not with money, but experience.

Activision has revealed the multiplayer component for Call of Duty: Black Ops in Los Angeles last night. The multiplayer mode for Black Ops is aimed at getting more players involved in multiplayer play, as Treyarch found that 30 to 40 percent of single player gamers have never tried multiplayer. Multiplayer allows for an entirely new feel, for any game. It’s always better to play with–or against–other humans.

During the presentation the producers revealed a new mode called Wager Match. It’s pretty much a match where you play for experience — experience which you put in. Only three players will be ‘In The Money’ once the game is over, and this means — if you’re not in the Top 3, you’ve lost experience.

Simply put, it’s gambling hard-earned experience, and this means emotion will be involved. With emotion comes more gambling to win back whatever you’ve lost. Thankfully, it’s only experience and not money. Other uses for experience include buying unlockables which you might not have opened up, just yet.

There are four Wager Matches, and the first is called “One In The Chamber”. In this game you’ll only have a Pistol with One Bullet loaded. Everyone has three lives, and one shot kills your opponent. If you miss your shot, you’ll be running around in melee. If you’re good enough to kill your opponent, you’ll get his bullet.

The second Wager Match mode is called “Sticks and Stones”. For this game you’ll have a Crossbow, a Ballistic Knife and a Tomahawk. If you toss the Tomahawk and hit someone, you’ll bankrupt that player.

The third Wager Match is called “Gun Game”. It was said to come straight from the community, and it’s really easy. Basically, the more you kill – the better guns you’ll receive. You start off with a pistol and with every kill your gun is enhanced. The first person to progress through all the weapons will win the Gun Game. If you’re killed with a knife, you’ll be set back by one tier.

The final match is called “Sharp Shooter”. All players will start with the same randomly selected weapon for a specific amount of time. And it cycles through.
