Inafune: Dead Rising Aiming To Replace Resident Evil As Capcom’s Biggest IP

Keiji Inafune, Capcom’s head of R&D, Online Business and Global Head of Production, has told Eurogamer that it’s aiming for Dead Rising to replace the Resident Evil franchise as the firm’s top dog IP.

“The goal for Dead Rising 2 is to replace the Resident Evil franchise and become number one IP within Capcom,” Inafune told Eurogamer.

Interesting, especially considering that Inafune recently teased Resident Evil 6, saying that news about it will arrive “shortly.”

Inafune also revealed that if sales were good on Dead Rising 2, a third game will be made.

“Until Dead Rising 2 sells we probably can’t start talking about spin-offs,” he said.

“If it’s received pretty well, yes we would consider a sequel. But at the moment we just don’t know.”

Dead Rising 2 will be releasing on September 24 on PC, PS3 and Xbox360.
