Kinect Voice Recognition Only Available To Certain Countries — South Africa Isn’t One Of Them

It has been confirmed that unless you live in the United States, Mexico or the United Kingdom — and speak English — Kinect will not listen to you. Microsoft will only offer voice recognition for USA English, UK English, Japanese and Mexican Spanish.

If you live anywhere else–South Africa for instance–and you speak fluent English, you still won’t be able to use the feature. It was said that Kinect will be locked to your region, therefore unless you can change your region — it won’t work.

Hopefully we’ll receive an update in Autumn 2011 along with other countries such as Australia and New Zealand.
