UFC Not Happy With Ubisoft’s Figthers Uncaged, So They Sue
Zuffa, UFC parent company, has launched trademark suit over Ubisoft’s use of the term ‘Ultimate Fighting’ in association with its Kinect exclusive title ‘Fighters Uncaged.’
Ubisoft, who are French by the way, underground street fighting title encourages players to become “the Ultimate Fighting weapon”, and Zuffa feels this has crossed the line and infringes upon its trademark.
Zuffa allege that Ubisoft’s use of the term was to confuse consumers and create associations with the UFC, which in the process would damage Zuffa’s reputation and harming its business.
Zuffa wants Ubisoft to be banned from producing products that infringe on its trademark and for all copies of the game carrying the phrase to be destroyed.
The last condition seems a bit ‘difficult’ to uphold wouldn’t you say?
