More Of What Epic Games Thinks Next-Gen Should Look Like

You remember those mind numbingly amazing screenshots that Epic Games released stating that that is how next-gen should look? Well, here’s the video that those screens came from. If anything, seeing it in action is even more beautiful.

The video is for something called The Samaritan which may be an actual game or simply a demo created to show off the capabilities of what Epic has created. The video does have all the trappings of what could be a pretty awesome game though and seems to be a blend of Prototype and Deus Ex with radical transformations, dystopian societies and cybernetically enhanced people. Fingers crossed that this desperately pretty creation sees the light of day and gets made.

It really does look amazing… But if they doing stuff like this already, surely we wont have to wait long before it starts being the norm?

For some reason this didn’t impress me much as the other visual spectacles I’ve seen so far this year.

Possibly because it’s gone for a very surreal visual style and because it looks so much like a cinematic which we’re all very used to. You can’t tell that it’s made using a graphics engine which is what makes it so amazing. With Crysis 2 and Battlefield 3 and Killzone 3, they look awesome but you can see tehy’re made with a graphics engine so it gives the visuals context which makes them so amazing.
