Nintendo’s New Console Will Boast A Six-Inch HD Display On The Controller, Better Specs Than PS3/360

Nintendo’s New Console Will Boast A Six-Inch HD Display On The Controller, Better Specs Than PS3/360

New details on Nintendo’s “Wii 2″ states that the entire operation is codenamed “Project Cafe”, thereafter it was suggested that the new controller for the device will boast dual analog sticks, a d-pad controller and trigger buttons — much like a PS3, Xbox 360 and Gamecube controller.

Following this, however, is the news from a French site which says that there will be a six-inch touch display screen and a front-facing camera on the controller itself.

The new console will apparently be able to stream content to the controller, and this content includes full games as the screen on the controller will act like a small television.

According to CVG, developers are working on games for the device as they have been briefed on this.

“Nintendo’s plans sound unreal,” one source said. “Publishers are already planning launch titles and it’s all very exciting.

“The hardware is even more powerful than current HD consoles and backwards compatible with Wii. The controller will be all-new and has a HD screen on it.”

According to sources, it is said that the console itself will offer HD graphics and standards beyond that of the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Technology for the device is leaked to be an IBM PowerPC CPU with three-cores, a GPU from the ATI R700 family which houses a shader unit at version 4.1 and at least 512mb of RAM.

Project Cafe will make HD console ports very easy for developers, as well as offer the ability for players to play their old Wii games on the device, and because of the ability for backward compatible play, it means that the old Wii peripherals will work with the device as well, and that there will be a sensor bar included with the device.

Upgraded DS controllers with more features for Nintendo’s new console? Could be very interesting, dont you think?

The new device will be revealed at E3 2011.

This is damn exiting stuff. New consoles always are. Can’t wait to see it in action. Just hope that the HD won’t be pointless due to the fact that most Nintendo games are kiddies stuff. So HD Cartoon graphics. Awesome :S

Any way still it sounds cool. :D

I really hope the Wii 2 has more to offer. Apart from a handful of absolutely incredible games, the Wii hasn’t had much going for it.
