Devil May Cry — Now With More Street Brawling And Vertical Slices [Video]

Hate it or love it, the new Devil May Cry from Capcom and Ninja Theory is here to stay.

So let’s rather try and love it in an effort to make things far less awkward when it’s in the room? Failing that, how about giving this video a watch? It’s an interview with the game’s creative director who talks about the new Dante’s “street brawler” style of combat, as well as explaining the details of the city that the new Devil May Cry, simply titled DmC: Devil May Cry (redundancy aside), inhabits.

“Growing up in a situation where the demons are out to kill him; society in general, controlled by the demons, is out to crush him; growing up on the streets … So, he’s more of a street brawler,” said the creative director. “His moves are less refined than you would have seen in previous DMCs”

That’s not such a bad thing when you check out the video and witness new Dante’s ‘vertical slice’ action where he can spend what seems like infinite amount of time up in the air attacking enemies, and even more interesting is the audio style of the game, which reacts to your in-game actions. The better you do, the better the music gets.

“The better you play, the more layers of music kick in, and if you get to the top ranks, then the screaming vocals kick in and it kind of affects you when you play, because you know you’re doing well.”

I don’t know, haters, that sounds pretty badass to me…
