GTA III, Coming To A Phone Near You

In honour of its 10th year anniversary, Grand Theft Auto III is getting a bit of a special treatment. Rockstar have decided that you should be able to cap cops and run people over on the move, and have announced that GTA III will be making its way to various Android Smartphone’s, as well as a limited amount of Apple products.

Sam Houser, Founder of Rockstar Games spoke about the portable port in an official release:

“Grand Theft Auto III showed us the potential of open world games. It helped set the vision for the company, and we have been expanding on those possibilities with every game ever since.”

If you own an iPhone 4, don’t get your hopes up about ever having this on your device. GTA III will only be available on the recently announced iPhone 4S, as well as the iPad 2. Every other Apple device has been ruled out.

It’s coming to more Android phones, such as Droid X2, LG Optimus 2X, Motorola Atrix, and Samsung Galaxy S2. It’s also headed to Android tablets like Acer Iconia, Asus Eee Pad, Motorola Xoom, and Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1.

So it seems you’ll have a better chance grabbing this on an Android device, though if you are planning to wait for the iPhone 4S, this may be the perfect first game for your new device.
