Mark Hamill Is Joker No More

Mark Hamill Is Joker No More

Mark Hamill is widely regarded to be the best actor to ever voice the Joker. Alas, he’s finally hung up his purple threads and maniacal laugh.

Hamill announced back in May that Arkham City would be his last performance as the Joker and now he’s sealed it with a recent Tweet:

“Hello/Goodbye Joker! I’ve enjoyed every minute behind the wheel of the Crown Prince’s crazy car- I’m going to miss him more than I can say!!”

Hamill began life as the Joker with the Batman Animated Series of the 90′s and featured in the highly acclaimed animated films Batman: Mask of the Phantasm and Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker. Hamill, believe it or not was also Luke Skywalker in the early Star Wars movies.

We’ll sincerely miss Hamill’s demented chuckle but at least he put in some stellar performances over the years to remember him by.

That comment is a little ironic but I concur.

      Luke Skywalker!?
      Really!?
      Wow!
I guess he’s more than just a maniacal laugh :)

You know you’re getting old when everybody else thinks Mark Hamill is famous for voicing the joker, when you’re thinking he’s famous for being Luke Skywalker.

      :(

But… WHY is he quitting? FFS. He’ll be missed by millions of little pedobears like myself.

The dude is 60 this year so I’m guessing that was his planned cut-off point. You can’t keep doing the maniacal laugh forever. He will be sorely missed though. It be an injustice if Joker was voiced by another in future Batman games or animated movies, just like it would be impossible for someone to come in and top Heath Ledger’s Joker.
