Hold Onto Your Mass Effect 3 Saves — BioWare Dev

Ask any gamer. Any real gamer.

Wait, why does that sound like Dominic Toretto from The Fast & The Furious.

Ask any gamer if they would willingly let go of their saves for a game and watch their reaction as they attempt to contemplate the action of deleting something so precious, even when the saves themselves hold little value moving forward.

Gamers will have entire hard drives filled with game saves and not much else.

Along came BioWare with their games that actually gave storing saves a purpose and asked gamers to import saves into their sequels in order to “continue the story” with various tie-ins affecting sequels depending on the imported save.

Never was this more apparent than with the second Mass Effect title, which made you feel like you were actually playing a role in a game, thanks to that save-importing system.

With the upcoming threequel, it would seem as though a bunch of saves that have survived through two prior titles and one more would go to waste after such a long lifespan, much to the dismay of many.

But BioWare aren’t so sure about that.

Mike Gamble has said that players should probably hold onto their Mass Effect 3 saves upon completing the game because you never know what may happen in future.

“Obviously I can’t say anything, but it wouldn’t be a bad idea.”

I’ll have that.

BioWare have of course previously stated that the future of the Mass Effect series beyond Mass Effect 3 is still to be decided but they are not short on ideas.

We already know that the trilogy only really follows Shepard anyway, so there isn’t really anything to stop, say, a Mass Effect spin-off with Garrus as the main character. Did I just make your day?

I can see the reasoning behind this. Although the next Mass Effect games won’t necessarily follow Shepard, you have impacted the ME world in your games. They can incorporate these choices into the new games. It’s really exciting news for me. The new games might still have some input from my side :)

Fantastic news indeed! Has my mind racing with the possibilities this implies, esp with the Krogan race.

Number 3 must still hit us and they already talking about another one. Take the hands out of your pants people and lets wait for number 3 and then see what happens lol

Quite a Novel concept… It also encourages people that have never played the previous versions to go out and get them before the next one comes out… Very clever BioWare…

I think ME 3 can bring new possibilities for later games, it’s only good news though. More ME can only be good. Let’s hope for the best!

I just hope they can make something that can fill the shoes of the trilogy, how do they plan to make a better enemy than the reapers.

*bbm insert hater comment here face *

kidding. I wonder what they are doing it for. Maybe you’ll be playing with Garrus’s nephew in ME4. Maybe you desperately need to keep your saving so that he knows that Tali keeps a g-string in her cupboard which Shepard left there after a hot night in the Normandy jacuzzi, together with Miranda’s.

Oh and did i mention the undies would have Dragon Age 2 insignia on them Caveshen?

  • http://egamer.co.za Dean Oberholzer

I heard that they are adding Caveshen into Mass Effect 4 (also known as Mass Effect Caveshen Edition)
