Yet Another Job Post Strongly Hints At Diablo 3 Console Release
Here we go again. Whether you’re annoyed at the absence of a committed release date for the PC version or put off by the game’s avoidance of an official console confirmation, it all boils down to Diablo 3 being bloody frustrating.
Now, yet another job posting from Blizzard has strongly hinted at a console release for Diablo 3, as seen by Ripten on Gamasutra. There’s still no PC date…
The job post indicates a search for a “senior software engineer console network”. The job description states that the person who gets the job will be “a key contributor on the Diablo team”. I think that’s pretty blatant.
The description also mentions the PS3 and Xbox 360 later on, and says that the applicant will be “responsible for ensuring the best implementation of sophisticated networking systems on consoles”.
Can that last part really be misinterpreted?
We already heard back in November last year that Diablo 3 is in development for consoles, and even has a lead designer, namely Josh Mosqueira. But in January this year Blizzard has avoided making any official confirmation, simply saying that its ”focus right now is on finishing the PC/Mac version of Diablo III”. I agree with that, but it doesn’t stop this game being frustrating in every way.
The current release date is set vaguely at Q2 of 2012, and the game will be out on PC and Mac.
