Assassin’s Creed III Will Have A Brand New Combat System
Combat has always been one of the most outstanding features in all the Assassin’s Creed games, especially when the system was first debuted with the first entry. However, many people, myself included, have felt that it needs a bit of a “reboot” itself. Well, according to Assassin’s Creed III creative director Alex Hutchinson, that’s exactly what we’re going to get.
The combat system for Assassin’s Creed III has been built up from scratch in order to suit the new protagonist, Connor, more. Basically, Connor can dual-wield almost any weapon, allowing you to dispatch Redcoats with a tomahawk and a dagger at the same time. Does anyone else envision some incredible counter-attack animations as well?
“The combat system in Assassin’s Creed III has been completely redone. We burned it to the ground and we’re building it back up”.
“At its base it’s a two-handed combat system, so all of the weapons are two-handed. Some of the cool new combinations include a tomahawk and knife. Connor also has a bow.
“At first our research said basically that bows had been replaced by guns, but what we found was that a lot of the different tribes were still using them to hunt from horseback because the guns were so inaccurate. We thought it was a cool weapon, and still historically accurate”.
Assassin’s Creed III will be sneaking in later this year on PS3, Xbox 360, Wii U and PC.
