Guild Wars 2 Collectors Edition and Specs Revealed

Guild Wars 2 Collectors Edition and Specs Revealed

Probably one of my most anticipated games for 2012, Guild Wars 2, might not have a solid release date yet, but that won’t stop me, and should stop any of you, getting excited about the awesome Collector’s Edition that was revealed yesterday.

All in all, three versions of the game will be available for pre-order, two of which are digital. Firstly, a vanilla flavoured version, which basically just includes the game and some of the pre-order bonuses. A Digital Deluxe edition is the second, offering the same pre-order bonuses, as well as some exclusive in-game items:

  • Summon Mistfire Wolf Elite Skill: summon a temporary Mistfire Wolf pet for use in combat
  • Rytlock Minitature: a perfect replica of Rytlock Brimstone to accompany your character on all of their adventure
  • Golem Banker: five days of a golem banker who will grant you access to your account storage from anywhere in the world
  • Chalice of Glory: A one-time use chalice to unlock rewards in PvP as well as compare your progress against other players
  • Tome of Influence: a one-time boost used to unlock guild vaults, emblems and other items for your guild

On top of these, there will be a premium Collector’s Edition available at stores, which will include the following:

  • 10-inch Rytlock figurine
  • Making of Guild Wars 2 book (112 pages)
  • Custom art frame
  • Art portfolio and five art prints
  • Best of Guild Wars 2 soundtrack CD

This edition is currently marked at $149,95 (around R1130.00), but now local pricing or availability has been determined as of yet. Prices for the other two digital versions has also not been revealed yet, but pre-ordering any three of these editions will grant players access to the following:

  • Access to all Guild Wars 2 Beta Weekend Events
  • Three days of headstart access
  • Hero’s Band in-game accessory (offers +2 Power, +2 Precision, +2 Toughness, +2 Vitality, +2 Condition Damage, +2 Healing, and +2% Critical Damage)

Finally, the minimum specifications need to run Guild Wars 2 was also released, with a bit of a warning as well. While these may be the minimum specs, patches and updates after the game is released could force you to upgrade you PC.

“Due to potential changes, system requirements may change over time, and you may be required to upgrade your current system (or obtain a new system) to continue to play the game.”

Regardless, the specs are fairly low, and can be seen below:

  • Windows XP Service Pack 2 or better
  • Intel Core 2 Duo 2.0 GHz, Core i3, AMD Athlon 64 X2 or better
  • NVIDIA GeForce 7800, ATI Radeon X1800, Intel HD 3000 or better (256 MB of video RAM and shader model 3.0 or better)
  • 25GB available HDD space

Pre-orders will begin on April 10th digitally, for those living overseas, so keep an eye out for the local pre-orders popping up soon. No release date as of yet unfortunately, but regardless, Guild Wars 2 has me excited, and should have you excited as well.

They’re completely justified in doing this.  Hate entry games in a non-established franchise releasing collector’s editions.  They have no place doing that.  Guild Wars 2, on the other hand, has earned it.  Pity is costs so much though.
