Valve Remove Cross-Platfrom Play From CS: GO

Who else saw this coming? I mean really, what the hell were Valve even thinking when they thought online cross-platform play would work properly with the PS3 and PC? Sure, PS3 gamers can use a mouse and keyboard, but they’re going up against people that only use that, not just occasionally. Thankfully, they saw the imbalances, and have removed the feature entirely.

Speaking to Joystiq, Valve’s Chet Faliszek confirmed that the feature announced last year has been removed, and no future plans point to it being added at a later stage.

“The beta has proved we want to update not just the beta, but the game itself post-launch frequently on the PC. To do that we need to separate the platforms so one doesn’t hamstring the other.”

“The beta gave us data for the need to update more frequently – if it settles down [cross-platform play] might happen, but that is a big might and not something we are planning on.”

In my opinion, it’s a simple decision really. PS3 gamers were getting their asses handed to them by PC gamers with mice, so it’s only logical to separate them. Cross-platform play is a fantastic idea, just not for certain titles. Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is one of those titles it seems.
